More on Kerry:

Kerry Drager has always had an interest in photography and the outdoors, thanks to his parents' encouragement. But photography remained a casual hobby until one day in 1980, when, he says, "the last straw occurred – one roll of film too many came back from the lab that failed to meet my great photographic expectations."

Kerry then set off on a quest for information and inspiration – by reading how-to books and camera magazines, by taking classes and seminars, by analyzing others' photos, and by doing "a lot of shooting, experimenting and reviewing my results." Later, he turned his personal passion into a professional pursuit.

Kerry lives in the country near Sacramento, Calif., with his wife, Mary, seven cats, four Newfoundland dogs, a horse, and a mixed terrier. Kerry also has two stepchildren: Dan and Kristin.

In the beginning, his photo goals were simple: "To improve my photography and expand my vision." Today, more than two decades later, he says: "Those are still my goals!"
